As a dad, I'm always trying to do what's best for my family. I'm sure that's why you're here as well. You're more than likely looking for a way to reinforce the curriculum being taught at school or you just want to find a way to be involved. That kind of engagement in your child's education is crucial to their success and emphasizes an important message to your child about what matters.
My goal is to provide you with a list of meaningful ideas that you can utilize throughout the year that will enhance what we're exploring in the classroom. The majority of these ideas are not meant to be too time consuming because many students will experience "burnout" if all of their free time is wrapped up in school related content. So, please take your time with these suggestions. Skits could be worked on for several days or videos could be watched in short segments.
If you have any questions or suggestions for me, please feel free to call or e-mail me. I check my e-mail about twice a day and I really value any feedback you'd be willing to share.
Thanks again for visiting!

Read Aloud
Our read aloud is coming along well. We're about halfway through the book. This story is about a child named Dan who feels like he's missing out on a "normal" life. His parents are environmentalists, and they want their family to live in a more natural setting. Dan, along with his grandparents, aren't too sure about this idea, and they're trying to convince them that this may not work. While Dan waits for his parents to find a new place to live, he's currently enrolled in school that's located in his grandparents' town. Will he be able to convince his parents that they should stay where they are now, or will Dan be stuck living in a log cabin away from anyone close to his age?

Wednesday - Civic Responsibility and Government
We've been focusing on the Bill of Rights recently. Each amendment takes about a day to discuss, and we'll continue to review the main responsibilities of each branch.
